he Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has officially rolled out a free online training programme designed to equip senior school educators with the skills needed to implement the Competency‑Based Assessment (CBA) framework under the Competency‑Based Curriculum (CBC).

The self‑paced training — accessible at no cost through the Educational Assessment Resource Centre (EARC) portal — aims to support teachers in mastering practical assessment skills and understanding the requirements of senior school assessments under the CBC model.

Under the programme, teachers begin by registering on the online portal, creating a profile, and selecting courses tailored to Senior School and Vocational Skills. Once enrolled, participants follow structured learning paths and complete sequential units to build core competencies in assessment design and implementation.

KNEC emphasised that the training facilitates professional development for educators at their own pace while aligning teaching and assessment practices with national education reforms.

In addition to the training launch, KNEC confirmed that performance reports from the 2025 Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and Kenya Intermediate Level Education Assessment (KILEA) are now available to schools and learners, further supporting data‑driven improvements in teaching and learning.

The initiative represents a key step in Kenya’s broader shift toward competency‑based education, aimed at strengthening teacher capacity and improving learning outcomes at the senior school level.
