Young, Saved and Beautiful (YSB) Marks a Decade of Mentoring Young Women Globally
Young, Saved and Beautiful (YSB), a faith-anchored mentoring community for young women aged 16–30, is celebrating its 10th anniversary, marking a decade of faith, sisterhood, mentorship and community-building.
Founded on August 4, 2016, by Oluwatobi Eunice Olabode (née Ogunfusika), YSB began with a simple but deeply held vision: to create a community where young women could navigate faith, identity and the realities of growing into adulthood with guidance, friendship and a sense of belonging.
Ten years later, that vision has grown into a community reaching young women across Abuja, Lagos, Ibadan, Enugu, Port Harcourt, Jos and beyond. YSB has recorded 581 unique members over the years and has developed a range of programmes and platforms designed to support young women in different seasons of their lives.
The YSB ecosystem now includes the YSB Podcast, YSB Mentoring Academy (YMA), daily devotionals, monthly Bible plans, weekly testimony meetings, annual hangouts and the YSB Queens virtual community.
The YSB Podcast, in particular, has created another avenue for conversations around faith, identity, relationships, self-esteem, personal development and navigating life as a young woman. The platform’s archive includes conversations on self-esteem and confidence, student life and career journeys, as well as an eighth-anniversary session reflecting on YSB’s journey.
For founder Oluwatobi Olabode, the work has always been about more than building a platform.
“YSB was never meant to be just a platform. It was meant to be a place where young women could be seen, mentored, and reminded of who they are,” said Olabode. “Ten years in, that mission hasn’t changed. What has changed is how many lives it has been able to touch.”
Olabode’s work with young women has continued to extend beyond YSB through initiatives and spaces including The Bloom Brunch, with her professional work consistently reflecting an interest in identity, community, personal development and creating intentional spaces for young women. Her public profile also reflects her continued engagement in conversations around adolescent development, identity and sisterhood.
As YSB enters its second decade, the organisation is marking the milestone with an anniversary Thanksgiving service in Abuja and Lagos, alongside anniversary content and activities reflecting on the community’s journey, stories and impact over the past ten years.
The anniversary also represents a new chapter of institutional growth. YSB has been registered as a Company Limited by Guarantee, formalising its structure as it prepares to build sustainably for the years ahead.
The organisation’s work contributes to the broader goals of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 5 (Gender Equality), through its focus on learning, mentorship, personal development and creating supportive communities for young women.
Looking ahead, YSB plans to deepen its mentoring programmes, expand its reach across Nigeria and strengthen the community infrastructure that enables young women to grow in faith, confidence, identity and purpose.
Ten years after its first gathering, YSB’s story is ultimately a story of continuity: a small community that grew because young women needed a place to belong, and a vision that has continued because the need for intentional mentorship and sisterhood remains.
