Beyond the Classroom Foundation Launches ReIGNITE Girls Project 3.0 in Karu, FCT
Beyond the Classroom Foundation has officially launched ReIGNITE Girls Project 3.0, a leadership and empowerment initiative designed to equip adolescent girls with essential life skills, confidence, and capacity to thrive in school and beyond. The program is scheduled to take place across four secondary schools in Karu, Federal Capital Territory, reaching at least 100 girls through structured leadership training sessions.
As part of the launch activities, the Foundation held a combined Volunteers and Facilitators Onboarding Session on January 10th, 2026, in Abuja, bringing together passionate youth leaders, educators, and program facilitators who will support the girls throughout the training period. The onboarding session focused on program expectations, facilitation standards, safeguarding, and the Foundation’s girl-centered approach to learning, leadership, and empowerment.
Speaking at the onboarding, Raquel Kasham Daniel, the Executive Director of Beyond the Classroom Foundation, highlighted the importance of preparing girls to become confident leaders and active contributors to society. She emphasized that ReIGNITE Girls Project 3.0 is not just a program, but a platform to help girls discover their strengths, build resilience, and understand that their voices and dreams matter. She added that empowering girls with leadership skills, knowledge, and strong support systems creates a ripple effect that strengthens families, schools, and entire communities. She also expressed appreciation to the volunteers and facilitators, acknowledging their passion, commitment, and the key role they will play in shaping the girls’ experiences and success throughout the program.

ReIGNITE Girls Project has evolved through three impactful phases. ReIGNITE 1.0 was implemented in Guzape Kpadamu community, reaching 20 girls and providing them with mentorship and foundational leadership skills at the community level. ReIGNITE 2.0 focused on girls living in vulnerable conditions at the Karamajigi IDP Camp in Abuja, ensuring displaced girls also had access to empowerment, learning, and support. Now, ReIGNITE 3.0 is taking the program into secondary schools in Karu, FCT, reaching a wider group of in-school girls and strengthening their leadership capacity, confidence, and educational journey.
Through interactive workshops, mentorship, and practical leadership exercises, ReIGNITE Girls Project 3.0 will help 100 girls build confidence, improve communication skills, enhance decision-making abilities, develop self-awareness, and set meaningful personal and academic goals, while reinforcing the importance of staying in school.
The program will run through January and culminate in a formal graduation ceremony marking the successful completion of the leadership training. The graduation will hold in celebration of the International Day of Education 2026, aligning with global efforts to promote quality education and affirming the Foundation’s commitment to advancing girls’ education and empowerment.
ReIGNITE Girls Project continues to build on Beyond the Classroom Foundation’s long-standing work in supporting girls, strengthening communities, and ensuring that every girl has the opportunity to learn, lead, and thrive.
