Tabitha Arenson Abimiku, Dr. Temitope Adeola Akinsemoyin, and Yemisi Benson Honored at Wellness Cycle Conference for Outstanding Contributions to Women’s Health and Well-Being
Menstrual health advocate and social entrepreneur Tabitha Arenson Abimiku, Founder and CEO of Virtuous Reusable Pads, has been honored in Lagos, Nigeria with the Menstrual Health Trailblazer Award at the Wellness Cycle Conference, organized by Dear Ambitious Girl, a New York City–based organization led by its Founder, Miss Lola, and her team.
The award recognises Abimiku’s years of leadership, advocacy, and sustained impact in advancing menstrual health, dignity, and access to sustainable period care solutions. Her work continues to shape conversations and action around women’s wellness through community engagement, education, and innovation.
Alongside Abimiku, two other distinguished professionals were also recognised for their contributions to women’s health and empowerment. Dr. Temitope Adeola Akinsemoyin, MPA, DSML, Ch. GHRA, received an award for her leadership and impact in health systems strengthening, policy, and human resources for health. Yemisi Benson, a licensed Clinical Psychologist, was also honoured for her work in advancing mental health awareness, psychosocial support, and emotional wellbeing for women and girls.
The Wellness Cycle Conference brought together over 200 females for in-depth conversations on health, empowerment, and holistic wellbeing. Abimiku was featured as one of the conference speakers and delivered a session titled “Period Care, Done Right: Hygiene Essentials,” where she shared practical guidance on menstrual hygiene, dignity, and sustainable menstrual health practices.
Speaking on the recognition and continued partnership, Abimiku expressed deep appreciation to Dear Ambitious Girl, New York (USA), for its commitment to amplifying women-led impact. She noted that the 2025 edition of the conference marks two years of collaboration built on a shared vision to move menstrual health conversations beyond awareness to action and measurable, community-driven outcomes.
“It brings me immense joy to see how far this work has come, from conversations to communities, and from awareness to real, measurable change. This recognition represents the collective efforts of partners, advocates, and the females whose lives continue to be positively impacted by this work,” Abimiku said.
Through Virtuous Reusable Pads, Abimiku remains committed to advancing menstrual dignity, education, and access to affordable, eco-friendly menstrual products, particularly for underserved communities. Her leadership continues to influence community practices, policy conversations, and global dialogue on menstrual equity.
The recognition of Abimiku, Dr. Akinsemoyin, and Benson at the Wellness Cycle Conference highlights the power of cross-sector collaboration in advancing women’s health.
