Tech Women Fest and NezaTech Africa Launch Laptop Initiative for Young Women in Tech
Tech Women Fest and NezaTech Africa have announced the 2026 edition of the Tech Women Fest Laptop Initiative, a programme created to help remove one of the most significant barriers facing young women pursuing careers in technology: access to a personal computer.
The initiative will provide laptops to young women across Lagos, Ogun and Oyo States who are actively building a career in technology but do not currently have access to a working personal laptop.
The Tech Women Fest, organised by NezaTech Africa, brings together women in technology to explore developments, opportunities and emerging trends within Nigeria’s and Africa’s technology ecosystem. Through the Laptop Initiative, the organisers are extending this commitment beyond conversations and networking by providing practical support to young women who need the tools to continue their technology journey.
For many aspiring women in tech, the absence of a personal device can make it difficult to learn, build projects, develop technical skills, apply for opportunities or pursue a sustainable career in technology.
The 2026 Laptop Initiative seeks to change that by putting a critical tool directly into the hands of women who have the drive and vision to build in tech but lack access to the equipment they need.
Eligible applicants must be female and resident in Lagos, Ogun or Oyo State, be registered to attend Tech Women Fest Lagos, and be available to receive the laptop in person at the event on October 10, 2026. Applicants must also not currently own a working personal laptop and must demonstrate an existing interest or journey in technology.
Applicants are required to follow Tech Women Fest and NezaTech Africa on at least one social media platform and submit an application explaining their technology journey, what they are currently learning or building, and how access to a laptop would support their growth.
Shortlisted applicants will be considered for the laptop awards, with winners announced and awarded live at Tech Women Fest Lagos on October 10, 2026.
Applications close on September 5, 2026.
To participate, applicants should first register for Tech Women Fest Lagos at techwomenfest.com and then complete the Laptop Initiative application at bit.ly/laptopgrant.
The initiative reflects a broader commitment to ensuring that lack of access to technology does not prevent talented young women from participating fully in Africa’s growing digital economy.
