Muazu Africa Expands Technical Assistance Facility to Create More Gigs Through Rural Market Systems and Social Procurement
Across much of Africa, significant investments continue to flow into rural development, enterprise support, agriculture, and livelihoods. Yet many programmes struggle to create lasting economic opportunities because local enterprises often lack access to markets, procurement opportunities, financing, and the institutional support needed to grow sustainably.
While billions of dollars have been committed to advancing inclusive economic development, the challenge is no longer simply mobilising capital. It is ensuring that investments strengthen local market systems, create jobs, support women-led enterprises, and generate lasting prosperity within rural communities.
Recognising this growing need, Muazu Africa, a venture builder focused on rural markets across Africa, has announced the expansion of its Technical Assistance (TA) Facility to support Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), governments, development partners, philanthropic organisations, and private sector actors designing and implementing inclusive rural market programmes.
Over the past four years, Muazu Africa has worked alongside development finance institutions and development partners to strengthen enterprise ecosystems, support women-led local value chains, deliver technical assistance, generate evidence for decision-making, and improve the effectiveness of rural economic development programmes.
The expanded Technical Assistance Facility builds on this experience, offering implementation support that goes beyond project delivery. Rather than focusing solely on enterprise development, the facility is designed to strengthen how capital, procurement, market access, and institutional partnerships work together to create productive economic opportunities within rural communities.
Speaking on the expansion, Tolulope Makinwa, Managing Partner of Muazu Africa, said the organisation believes sustainable rural prosperity depends on building stronger market systems that enable local businesses and communities to thrive.

The expanded facility provides technical assistance across rural market systems development, enterprise and MSME development, social procurement, women-led value chain strengthening, market intelligence and research, monitoring and evaluation, programme design and implementation, investment readiness, stakeholder engagement, knowledge management, and impact reporting.
Operating across Nigeria and Rwanda, Muazu Africa combines deep contextual knowledge of rural economies with practical implementation experience, enabling governments, development partners, and investors to design programmes that are commercially viable, socially inclusive, and locally owned.
A key focus of the expanded facility is social procurement, helping institutions intentionally source goods, services, and implementation partners from local enterprises, cooperatives, and women-led businesses. By embedding local procurement into programme delivery, the organisation aims to ensure that development investments generate employment, strengthen local supply chains, and retain more economic value within rural communities.
Muazu Africa has also developed proprietary rural market intelligence and diagnostic tools that help partners better understand enterprise readiness, value chain constraints, market opportunities, and investment gaps.
